Based within the School of Environmental Science and Land Management at University of Worcester, the Centre for Rural Research undertakes academic and applied research into aspects of agricultural, cultural, economic, environmental, political and social change in the countryside.
Natural England - Herefordshire and Worcestershire Team
English Nature has been replaced by Natural England. The local office for Herefordshire and Worcestershire is now part of the West Midlands region. Contact details can be found here. In the two counties, the natural areas include the Black Mountains & Golden Valley, Central Herefordshire, the Malvern Hills and Teme Valley and the Severn and Avon Vales.

Malvern Hills AONB
Website for the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The AONB is well know for the dramatic landscape of the Malvern Hills and surrounding areas, as well as the local spring water. The AONB also contains a diverse cultural heritage and is rich in wildlife.
Malvern Hills Conservators
The body responsible for managing approximately 3,000 acres of the Malvern Hills, 2,500 of which is directly owned by the group. Formed by an act of parliament in 1884.
Malvern Spa Association
Organisation responsible for promoting and preserving the many natural springs in the Malvern Hills area.

Wye Valley AONB
The Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty encompasses approximately 70 km of the River Wye from Hereford in the north to Chepstow Castle. The AONB straddles the border between England and Wales and includes parts of the counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, and Monmouthshire. The limestone gorge of the River Wye is the most spectacular part of the protected landscape.

Bishopswood Environmental Education Centre
A nationally and internationally recognised centre involved in environmental and sustainability education with schools. The centre also runs a variety of training courses. See website for details. Bodenham Arboretum Set in 156 acres of countryside on the outskirts of Kidderminster, Bodenham Arboretum is home to more than 2700 trees. There are also 11 pools and 4 miles or trails and a visitor's centre. Bewdley Museum Located in the picturesque river side Georgian town of Bewdley, the museum illustrates the growth and trades of the town as well as the crafts of the surrounding Wyre Forest area through fascinating indoor and outdoor displays. Geology of the Forest of Dean Extract from the book The mines of the Forest of Dean and surrounding areas by Tony Oldham. Geostudies Delivering field and classroom courses for adult students since 1996, Geostudies is run by Dave Green - local geologist who has been teaching beginners and undergraduates since the 1970s! Ludlow Museum Contains the John Norton Gallery and a presentation of the internationally famous geology of the Ludlow area. Also houses displays on human occupation in the area. Malvern Outdoor Education Centre An outdoor activities centre owned and operated by Worcestershire County Council. Provides outdoor and indoor classroom activities for school children in the beautiful setting of the north Malvern Hills. Severn Valley Country Park Located between the of Highly and Alveley in the Shropshire countryside, this park covers 180 acres of woodland, meadows and wetland. Large areas of the park were reclaimed following cessation of coal mining operations in the area in 1969. The University of the Third Age A "a self-help organisation for people no longer in full time employment providing educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment." Worcester City Museums Information about the museums in the city of Worcester including the The Commandery and The City Art Gallery & Museum. Worcestershire County Museum Housed in the 14th Centrury Hartlebury castle, the museum contains displays on collections ranging from children’s toys, archaeology and costume to craft work by the Bromsgrove Guild. Wyre Forest Discovery Centre Located at the Wyre Forest Visitors Centre, in Callow Hill, just outside of Bewdley, the centre provides facilities and programmes designed to educate children about the forest and related subjects such as wildlife and arts and craft.
